Wow! The Knicks won by 42 points last night to a talented but terrible team. Even though it was only the Portland Fail-blazers it was a very impressive win. The boys in blue and orange played together with a defensive tenacity we have never seen from them and ball movement that reminded us of when Clyde was running the show. Now this is the reason why I love this team. Even with the previous 6 losses, they showed us what they're capable of when the defensive end powers the offensive end.
Mike Woodson is more than a capable coach and if he could manage to get the best out of these players for the rest of the season. I think he has a great chance at keeping the head coach position and taking the Knicks into a deep playoff run.
The real test will be the home and home games against the Pacers this weekend. Indiana is a very deep and talented team but if the Knicks play with the urgency and cohesion they showed they could Wednesday night, they have a great shot at taking both games, and possibly going on a nice run to get that 8th seed back. Although, if they go back to their old ways, I believe it would mean its time to blow up the team and start from scratch.
Amare Stoudemire reminded us exactly what he is capable of the way he was playing above the rim and Carmelo had a very good all around game. He proved why he is a top tier player without even scoring 20 points. The two combined for 30 points at the half; Portland as a team only put together 29.
The Bockers have 23 games left to prove to everyone they were not a waste of money and talent. They have to take at least 15 of those games for anyone to even consider them a threat in the playoffs. It's all on 'Melos shoulders now so let's see exactly how "clutch" he is.

Bon Voyage Mike D'Antoni
Well asta lavista, see ya never again D'Antoni. What a way to go out. Resigning on a game day? To me that's just being a wimp. I understand James Dolan probably gave him the option of being fired or resigning but really Mike? You couldn't have pushed for one more game?
Being a Knicks fan this year it seems all I have had is heartbreak; from the first game we beat the Celtics, to just going on a tear in the losing column every game after. I really thought D'Antoni was this offensive genius with given the amount of talent we had and his supposed offensive brain power we would be between 1st-3rd in the standings all year. It must have been the kid in me wishing for a new bicycle at Christmas time only to be disappointed with socks and underwear. So where does this team go from here? Supposed rifts in the locker room but I don't believe that. Aren't these the same guys who tweet about going to the movies and out to eat like they're still in college? Melo wanted out of his hometown? (No not Baltimore) I don't believe that one either. How could one want to leave the greatest city in the world?
It just boggles my mind how the coach couldn't get this group of guys to believe in his system; 'Melo can't be that detrimental to this team. I believe it had to be the fact that D'Antoni didn't want 'Melo and once it happened he was determined to prove his point. I'm not saying he stopped trying to win, I'm just saying he stopped trying hard. I mean come on; you had no point guard for a third of the year, why were you still trying to use the pick and roll every play. A wise man once came up with the triangle offense and used it to win not one, not two, but eleven Larry O'Brien trophies. It's ok to be a copycat Mike, as long as your'e winning!
So all of us knick fans are now supposed to put our hopes hearts and dreams in the defensive genius Mike Woodson. Hell I'm all for it. Isn't the cardinal rule a great defense is the best offense? I guess well just have to wait and see about that.

Superbowl Week Is Underway
After both teams arrive in Indianapolis, (Eli and co. fashionably late) let the trash talk begin.
Anyone remember Tom Brady laughing at Plaxico Burress' statement that Brady and his offense will not score more than 17 points? We do.
